Following the instructions in the book were simple enough. Forehead pulled down from the eyebrows and up from the hairline, the crowsfeet up and down, the cheek from the edge of the ear to the nose, the bottom lip pulled over the teeth, the upper lip pulled over the teeth, the nose pulled down similarly, and then around the eyes, the upper looking down and the lower looking up.
The reason I bring it up is that my model was having a horrible, painful time. her jaw locked and she started crying silently through the process. It was a horrible experience and she was a real trooper.
Having covered that aspect of the process, the makeup was one of my most proud moments in the class. Cassie's face wrinkled in the most fantastic ways and really read wonderfully. Dabbing on the makeup around the eyes and (I found) on the upper lip, really made it come alive.
Similarly to the others, but a evasive trick to master, was managing to line up the latex with the naturally occurring lines on the face. It really helped sell the illusion.
